Installing plugins on your Minecraft server

Switch to Paper and add plugins for protection, economy, ranks and more.

Plugins need Paper (or Spigot)

Plain "vanilla" Minecraft can't run plugins. Switch your server to Paper from your control panel first. It runs the same worlds and is faster.

Download the plugin. It's a file ending in .jar. Check it supports your Minecraft version.
Stop your server.
Upload the .jar file to the plugins folder.
Start the server. The plugin creates its own folder inside plugins with a config.yml file you can edit.

Check the console when the server starts. A plugin built for a different Minecraft version is the most common cause of errors.
